De Guado al tasso - Matarocchio wordt alleen geproduceerd voor privé gebruik van de familie Antinori.
Dit gezegd hebbende hoef ik eigenlijk al niet meer verder te vertellen.

Antinori is natuurlijk al bekend om zijn topwijnen als Solaia, Tignanello, Cervaro en Pian Delle Vigne.
Maar de Guado al Tasso Matarocchio is meest schaarse en meest gewilde wijn op dit moment.

Zeker nu Parker de nieuwe topoogst 2013 heeft beloond met 99/100 punten! Dit is één van de hoogste scores ooit voor een Toscaanse wijn door Parker. Bijgaand de volledige recensie van Parker over de 2013:

The 2013 Matarocchio is perhaps the most stunning wine I have yet tasted from the prolific portfolio of Italy's most important producer: Marchesi Antinori. This pure expression of Cabernet Franc comes from the family's Bolgheri estate Tenuta Guado al Tasso. I tasted the wine after it had been in bottle for 18 months. It is set to be released in September and less than 4,000 bottles were produced. Matarocchio was not made in 2014. Cabernet Franc is quickly becoming a headline grape along the Tuscan Coast, and this beautiful creation builds a rock-solid case for that claim. The bouquet is deep and penetrating with delicious and succulent aromatic layers that peel back in slow succession. Blackberry and dark currant is followed by tar, licorice, leather and delicate mineral tones that resemble polished river stone. There is spice, pepper and sweet clove. The best part, however, is the elegance and veritable lightness shown in the mouth. The wine is indeed structured and richly concentrated, but it feels so much lighter on its feet compared to the bulkier 2011 vintage that I tasted alongside for comparison. The wine's drinking window will remain wide open for many more years.

My "Tuscan Ten" showstopper is the 2013 Matarocchio, a pure expression of Cabernet Franc made in limited release by the Antinori family. This is an incredible wine that makes a smashing first impression, second impression, third impression and so forth. This otherworldly and beautifully detailed wine awards an unforgettable experience, especially to those attracted to the irresistible tastes of sun-drenched Coastal Tuscany. Fruit comes from a five-hectare plot with well-draining soils and white stones. The vines were planted at the end of the 1990s at a density of 6,000 vines per hectare. The rows are positioned to face the evening breezes that lift off the beach and the vines benefit from steep diurnal temperature shifts. This is a very special wine that is already within a whisper of perfection. It represents an unexpected crown in the very impressive pyramid of Antinori icon wines (including Tignanello, Solaia and Guado al Tasso). It was produced in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013. I have very high hopes for the next release to come (2015 and 2016 perhaps?). With the 2013 Matarocchio, a new star is born.

Deze wijn wordt alleen gemaakt in de topjaren dus ze zijn beschikbaar van de topjaren 2009 , 2011 , 2012 en nu dus 2013. Van de vorige oogsten zijn nog enkele flessen beschikbaar (klik op het jaartal).

De hand geplukte Cabernet Franc druiven (100%) hebben 18 maanden rijping gehad op 100% nieuwe 60 liter Franse eikenvaten. Een wijn gemaakt met veel aandacht en dat proef je ook terug in de elegantie en finesses van de wijn. Wijnen met Cabernet Franc floreren aan de Toscaanse kust. Het boeket is diep en doordringende met heerlijke en sappige aromatische lagen. De geur van zwarte bessen wordt gevolgd door teer, zoethout, leder en delicate minerale tonen. Ook is er een kruidigheid aanwezig van peper en zoete kruidnagel. De wijn is gestructureerd en rijkelijk geconcentreerd. Naast de smaak van donkere blauwe vruchten is er ook kruidigheid aanwezig in de vorm van peper en zoete kruidnagel. De afdronk is geweldig, blijft heel lang hangen.
Opdronk vanaf 2019 en te bewaren tot 2030.

Ons advies is om een kistje te bestellen en deze 5-10 jaar te bewaren, krijgt u geen spijt van.

Het landgoed Guado a Tasso ligt ongeveer 50 kilometer (80 kilometer) ten zuidwesten van de stad Florence in de buurt van het middeleeuwse gehucht Bolgheri. Het terrein, met een totale oppervlakte van ongeveer 2500 hectare (1000 hectare), strekt zich uit van de Tyrreense zee naar de binnenlandse heuvels en verbouwt, naast zijn 300 hectare wijngaarden, tarwe, maïs, zonnebloemen en olijven . De wijngaarden liggen op rotsachtig en licht tussen 150 en 200 voet (45-65 meter) boven zeeniveau.
